Bible craft ideas
If you are next on the teaching roster for Sunday School, you should prepare for class in advance. A good way to reinforce a Bible lesson is offer kids some fun craft ideas. Crafts give kids an opportunity for hands-on learning by making refrigerator art and keepsakes for parents and grandparents. Show kids craft ideas that match your topic or story. Take-home visuals will keep children's memories fresh when they are away from class.
Adam and Eve Apple
For this craft allow children to paint and decorate small plastic apples. Have kids paint the apples gold. Alternatively, you could paint them before class. Let kids add stick-on or glue-on jewels to create their version of the tempting fruit. Tell the kids the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
David's Sack
Tell children the story of David defeating Goliath with five smooth stones. According to the Bible, David carried his stones in a sack. Give kids two pieces of brown felt in a sack shape. Let them glue or sew the fabric pieces together. Take the class on a stone hunt so that they can find their own stones.
Noah's Tissue Rainbows
Give children printouts of rainbow shapes. Instruct children on cut up tissue paper and glue them to the rainbows. Demonstrate put different colors in each section. If children are too small to use scissors well, chop up the tissue for them before class. Tell children the story of Noah and the promise God to the world never to flood the Earth. Explain how the rainbow is a reminder to humanity that the world will never again be destroyed by water.
Alabaster Box
Read to children the story of the woman with the alabaster box. Inside her box, she had stored very expensive cologne. She used this cologne by pouring it on Jesus. Present children with small plain cardboard boxes. Ask them to decorate the box, then place a note inside the box. The note should tell what item they would like to give to Jesus. Have decorative items available that kids can use to decorate the boxes with. Things like construction paper, lace, foam figures and ribbons.
Bible Puppets
Show kids make fun Bible puppets using brown paper bags. They could glue long black yarn on a bag to make Samson. They could make Jesus bags by gluing on brown yarn for hair and a beard. Give them buttons and markers to add eyes and draw on facial features.
