A typical spa treatment, people use French Green Clay primarily as a facial or in bathwater. The mineral content of the clay--which can include magnesium, potassium and calcium, among other properties--is said to help draw toxins out of the body, remove dead skin cells and provide a deep cleansing for the pores to leave the skin smooth and refreshed. It's relatively inexpensive if you stay away from the ultra-fancy brands; some health food stores even sell it in the bulk section.
Instructions
1. Place 2 tbsp. French green clay into a bowl.
2. Pour 1/2 cup warm water into the bowl and mix the clay until it begins to form a paste. You may need to add a little more water if the mixture is too thick. You should be able to spread it easily onto your skin.
3. Moisten your face with warm water and pat dry with a towel.
4. Spread the clay onto your skin with your fingertips so it's evenly distributed. Be careful not to get it into your eyes.
5. Let the clay sit for 10 to 15 minutes. As it dries, it will start to feel a little tight on your skin. You don't have to let it dry completely; 15 minutes should do.
6. Rinse the clay completely off your face with warm water.
