Create your own bulletin board by covering ceiling tiles.
Bulletin boards in offices are useful productivity tools, keeping reminders and tasks visible, but they are usually bland in design and can be expensive at office supply stores. Create your own bulletin board to showcase your personal style while also adding a way to organize notes, menus, calendars and unpaid bills. A drop ceiling tile is an inexpensive material with all of the qualities of a cork bulletin board. Drop ceiling tiles are also simple to cut and personalize, requiring only common household tools.
Instructions
1. Mark off the ceiling tile to the size and shape you want to cut it. Use a tape measure to get the correct size and mark it with your pencil.
2. Trace the pencil lines with a utility knife. Press the utility knife into the pencil lines to make deep cuts. The blade may not cut completely through, but that is okay.
3. Cut along the utility knife cuts with a serrated knife to break the rest of the way through the ceiling tile.
4. Cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover the face of the board with about 2 inches of extra fabric on every side.
5. Spray the front of the board with spray adhesive and lay it adhesive side down onto the backside of the fabric.
6. Flip the board and smooth the fabric over the front with your hands to remove bubbles and creases.
7. Flip the board again and pull back the fabric edges, stapling them to the back of the board with a staple gun.
