The small, tube-shaped case is an integral part of a firearm cartridge. Igniting gunpowder creates gas, firing the bullet out of the brass mouth and down the barrel of the firearm. Made from brass, the cases can be reused many times, but the powder burns inside and outside the brass make it unsightly. A brass tumbler can make short work of cleaning cases.
Instructions
1. Place the tumbler on a steady surface away from any combustible objects.
2. Fill the container with the cleaning media to the manufacturer's recommended amount--often around two-thirds full.
3. Add the cases and place the container on the tumbler.
4. Turn on the tumbler and leave it running for 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the media and how dirty the brass is.
5. Turn off the tumbler and inspect the individual cases. Discard any that are cracked or bent beyond repair, then add the balance back to the tumbler.
6. Add brass cleaning liquid at the manufacturer's recommended amount and continue to tumble the cases for several hours. Every 30 to 45 minutes, stop the tumbler and look inside the cases to determine cleanliness.
7. Turn off the machine and take out the newly cleaned brass. Wipe off all the media and store the cases for future use.
