The advantages of aluminum studs include their lesser weight, an important factor for rooms built over existing structures, such as garages and utility rooms. According to Mark Reisdorf, architect and specialist in light gauge metal stud framing, "architects have begun experimenting with pre-cut modular aluminum framing to reduce on-site construction costs."

Aluminum beam hangers, also known as joist hangers, are the fittings which convey the load or weight of one mean onto the next beam to strengthen a house frame. Even in houses framed from wood, metal beam hangers are required. Aluminum beam hangers posses the qualities of strength and durability and are not affected by damp climates.

Aluminum framing materials offer many significant advantages over traditional framing materials. Although wood is still the most popular choice for framing, its issues with weight, mold, dampness, vulnerability to infestation by insects such as termites and flammability are serious problems, often costing homeowners thousands of dollars in repairs every year. Aluminum framing does not corrode, will not present a fire hazard and is comparatively light in weight. Aluminum framing is also an earth-friendly construction material since it can also be manufactured from recycled scrap metal.
