Eagle activities with children can be educational and fun.
The eagle is the national bird of the United States of America. It is majestic and was thought to represent power and freedom by our country's founding fathers. Teach children about eagles by having them make games or crafts under your supervision. These educational and fun activities are great to celebrate our national holidays such as Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day.
Puppet
Make an eagle puppet using a brown paper lunch bag. Decorate the folded side of the bottom with a beak, eyes and tuft of feathers cut out of colored construction paper. Make wings and a tail out of brown construction paper and draw feather lines on them using a black marker. Attach the wings to the back, center area of the paper bag. Use orange or yellow construction paper to cut out the feet or talons and attach to the front, bottom of the bag. Insert your hand or the child's hand and fly the eagle through room demonstrating its skill and elegance.
Jigsaw Puzzle
Find a coloring book page with an eagle on it. Have the child color it in. Glue the colored page to a piece of cardboard and let it dry. On the back of the cardboard draw puzzle lines and cut out the pieces. Have the child put it back together again.
Trivia Challenge
Collect eagle facts and turn them into a trivia game. Each fact will inspire discussion, turning a learning experience into fun. Make the eagle facts multiple choice questions, fill-in the blank, true or false or a combination of these. Don't forget the answer key so the children can check their responses.
Handprint Craft
Trace the child's hands on a sheet of brown construction paper or other material. Cut out the shapes. Glue the hand shapes onto the center of another sheet with the wrist ends aligned and the thumbs up. Cut out the eagle's head using white construction paper and yellow paper for the beak and feet. Cut out a tail from the brown paper. Have the child glue these pieces on the hand-shaped wings.
