Eco-friendly building products can make your home or business more energy efficient and lower your carbon footprint. For your next green project, consider using a recycled alternative to drywall. Companies like EcoRock, GreenEBoard and Homasote manufacture drywall alternatives made from recycled materials.
A Lower Carbon Footprint
Recycled drywall often saves energy and costs less money to produce. EcoRock and GreenEboard are made using less than half of the energy it takes to produce conventional gypsum drywall. GreenEboard and Homasote both recycle 100 percent of their plants' post-industrial waste.
Recycled Materials
Recycled drywall reduces landfill waste by using post-consumer or post-industrial materials. Eighty percent of the material used to make EcoRock is post-industrial recycled waste, while GreenEBoard uses 15 percent. Homasote board is manufactured with a whopping 98 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
Safer Disposal
Once they're no longer needed, GreenEboard, EcoRock and Homasote can be safely dumped in a landfill because they don't contain gypsum or harmful chemicals, or they can be recycled again for something else. EcoRock can be recycled into a pH additive for soil or made into other building material.
Excellent Building Material
EcoRock and GreenEBoard are mold resistant and termite resistant, and they do not contain harsh chemicals. GreenEBoard is waterproof, so it will not disintegrate in damp conditions. These products are also durable and do not generate as much dust during the building process, which contributes to a safer working environment.
