How Frequently Would You Use Bonemeal On Roses

Bonemeal is a slow-acting fertilizer for roses.

Bonemeal is an organic, slow-acting fertilizer which is high in phosphorus and nitrogen. Bonemeal is particularly recommended as a rose fertilizer, as phosphorus release is controlled throughout the growing season. Follow guidelines for applying fertilizers; overuse of bonemeal scorches roots of plants.

When and Apply Bonemeal

Bonemeal should be applied at the start of the growing season, when the weather is good and new plant growth has started. Sprinkle the recommended amount of bonemeal on the ground around your roses and hoe the powder into the soil. If the soil is dry, water well to aid absorption.

What Does Bonemeal Do?

Bonemeal is high in phosphurus. Phosphuris is a particularly good nutrient for roses as it assists the rooting of plants, feeds stems and increases blossoming

Fertilizing Roses

Use liquid fertilizers as well as bonemeal to feed your roses. Roses will benefit from weekly feeds and spraying liquid fertilizer on leaves is another method of adding nutrients to the plant. It is possible to buy special blended rose food, particularly suited to growing roses.
