Bullnose cornerbead molding installs onto drywall to create the look of rounded corner plaster walls.
Sheetrock walls are the standard for home construction and remodeling work. Wet gypsum slag is converted into easy-to-use sheets that can be cut, installed and finished with ease. Most drywall corners are normal, square corners. In order to create custom profiles, like rounded bullnose corners, installers use custom bullnose plastic molding.
Instructions
1. Apply spray-on contact adhesive on the corners of the unfinished drywall. The drywall bullnose molding is permanently fastened to the wall with the drywall joint compound. The spray adhesive holds the molding in place until you apply the drywall joint compound (mud) over the plastic molding.
2. Cut the plastic bullnose molding and press it into the adhesive. Place it over the unfinished corner of the drywall. Step back and look at the corner to make sure the bullnose molding is centered on the corner. Apply all the bullnose and standard square corner bead to corners before proceeding to the next step.
3. Apply a first coat of drywall mud over the corner bead with a 6-inch drywall knife. Apply the mud to the wall so that it overlaps the wall and the bullnose molding.
4. Allow the mud to dry, and then sand and repeat the process two more times to complete finishing the drywall as normal. The successive coats of drywall mud finish the bullnose corner, and once it's painted, it will appear as if the drywall itself is shaped into a curved corner.
