Tuck a bobby pin rosette behind your ear for a fresh, floral accent.
Fabric rosettes come in a variety of sizes and colors. When you attach a rosette to a bobby pin, the options for accessorizing your hair become virtually limitless. Use petite bobby pin rosettes to pull back small sections of hair, or encircle a bun with several rosettes to create a romantic, fairytale look. A single large rosette lends a dramatic appearance to any hairstyle. The do-it-herselfer can create these looks at home with her favorite rosette design, glue, thread and a cheap pack of bobby pins.
Instructions
Small to Medium Rosettes
1. Place the rosette face down on the work surface.
2. Place a small bead of craft glue in the center of the flower.
3. Press the loop end of the bobby pin into the glue. Orient the bobby pin so that the open end of the pin that bends upward faces toward the work surface. Allow the glue to dry for five minutes or until the bobby pin does not shift in the glue.
4. Sew the rosette to the bobby pin using embroidery floss matching the color of the rosette. Make three or four loop stitches that wrap around the top leg of the bobby pin and through the rosette.
Large or Heavy Rosettes
5. Place the rosette face down on the work surface.
6. Cut a small piece of felt 1-inch long by 1/2-inch wide. If the flower is made of heavy fabric but is not very large, cut the felt to fit the back of the rosette.
7. Use craft glue to affix the felt to the back of the flower.
8. Spread craft glue along the strip of felt and press two bobby pins into the glue. This will provide greater stability when placing the rosette in the hair. Orient the bobby pins so that the open ends of the pins that bend upward faces toward the work surface. Allow the glue to dry for five minutes or until the bobby pin does not shift in the glue.
9. Sew the rosette to the bobby pin using embroidery floss matching the color of the rosette. Use widely spaced loop stitches and work down the length of one bobby pin and then the other.
