Fresh paint On Plasterboard

Old plaster walls can be simulated in a variety of ways, including the installation of veneer plaster panels.

Plasterboard is sometimes used as a synonym for drywall. But another material is often referred to in the construction industry as plasterboard: veneer plaster construction, which is manufactured in 4-by-8-foot sheets. Building professionals use the material as an alternative to plaster walls. The thin sheets come with a grooved plaster finish applied to a sheet of paper-backed gypsum. The material is attached to the building frame like drywall but is then covered with a final plaster coat and troweled to a smooth or sandy texture. The final coat of plaster can be left natural or painted.

Instructions

1. Wait until the plaster is thoroughly dry. Under ideal conditions this takes at least 24 hours. Test for dryness by attaching a 1-foot-square piece of clear polyethylene plastic to the wall with tape. If no water droplets collect in 24 hours, the plaster can be painted.

2. Wipe the plaster surface clean with a dry, clean cloth or rag. Apply only enough force to wipe away any dust that may have accumulated since the plaster was applied. Check the cloth occasionally to make sure there are no wet areas. If you encounter moisture, postpone painting till every portion is dry.

3. Choose a quick-drying vinyl acrylic latex paint as a sealer/primer. Stir the paint thoroughly. Pour it into a paint tray or paint bucket equipped with a paint screen.

4. Cut in the area to be painted with the brush. Paint around all light fixtures and electrical outlets with the brush.

5. Apply the paint to the wall with the roller handle and extension arm.

6. Let the paint dry. Clean out the brush. Clean or throw away the roller pad.

7. Apply a top coat of epoxy-based finish paint in the same manner as the the acrylic primer.
