GIB board or GIB wall is a colloquial name for plasterborad, drywall or gypsum board New Zealand, typically found in New Zealand. Like drywall sheets or gypsum board, GIB board, typically installed in bathrooms and kitchens, can be fire resistant or water resistant. GIB board is tacked to the wall studs usually with a type of drywall screw, and then the joints are taped and concealed with joint compound. Tile may be installed over the GIB board thereafter to finish.
