Dissolve Slippery Elm Powder

Slippery elm bark is the only ingredient in the powder.

Slippery elm powder is a form of alternative medicine made from the bark of the slippery elm tree. Alternative medicine enthusiasts use the powder to treat a variety of internal digestive issues, as well as external skin problems. Patients can dissolve the powder in water to create a thick, tealike liquid. Consult your physician before taking any alternative medical treatments.

Instructions

1. Pour 1 ounce of slippery elm powder into a soup pot. Slowly add water while you stir until the mixture forms a thick paste.

2. Turn the stove on to medium-high heat and slowly begin adding more water. Continue adding water until you have one part powder to eight parts water. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

3. Let the mixture cook down for about one hour, stirring every 10 minutes. The powder dissolves and creates a thick liquid that you can then ingest for digestive issues.
