Use flowers to make beautiful and scented crafts.
Flowers may be incorporated into art and used as a material for your creations. The petals can even be removed and used to create plaster, which may then be used as a building material for crafts. Plaster has been used for thousands of years, according to the Association of Lifecasters International website. The ancient Egyptians used burnt, crushed gypsum mixed with water to create plaster. When made from the petals of flowers, plaster can be used to craft designs that are not only beautiful but also scented.
Instructions
1. Remove the petals from the flowers. One cup of flower petals will make about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups of plaster, depending on how much water you add.
2. Place the flower petals in a cooking pot. Pour water over the flower petals. Only add enough water to cover all the flowers. Turn the heat on low, and let it simmer until the flower petals become soft.
3. Remove the flower petals from the pot by pouring the flower petals and the water into a strainer. If you want your plaster to have a more flowery scent, then save the water to use in the next step.
4. Put the softened flower petals inside a blender. Add 1/4 tsp. of water. Blend the petals until it becomes a pulp substance. If it is too thick, then add another 1/4 tsp. of water and blend some more. Repeat until you are satisfied with the consistency of your plaster.
5. Pour your flower plaster into a bowl, and let it completely cool off before handling it. Use the mixture within five to 10 minutes after it has cooled off so it doesn't harden.
