Dryvit Specifications

Dryvit Systems, Inc., has manufactured finish and exterior insulation products since 1969. Headquartered in West Warwick, Rhode Island, Dryvit maintains production plants in China, Poland and Canada. The Dryvit product line includes finishes, base coats, adhesives, reinforcing meshes, air barriers, sealants and primers. Dryvit manufactures products for use in residential and commercial buildings, which are designed for interior and exterior constructions in warm and cold climates.

Color Mist

Color Mist provides a non-slip surface, available in premixed standard or custom colors. Users can apply the water-based acrylic Color Mist product on interior or exterior surfaces. Color Mist can dry within one half-hour in temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit with 55 percent relative humidity, but drying times can vary in different conditions. Dryvit recommends applying Color Mist in ambient temperatures of 40 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, with surface temperatures of 40 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Color Mist will not adhere to materials that contain oil, grease or curing compounds, and surfaces must be clean and dry. Color Mist has an opaque appearance, faint odor and comes in liquid form. The product can cause skin and eye irritation on contact and respiratory irritation if inhaled.

Backstop DMS

Dryvit manufactures the Backstop DMS product for use with its Outsulation systems. Prior to applying Backstop DMS, Dryvit recommends treating joints with Grid Tape and Backstop NT Texture products. Backstop DMS comes in a dry mix, designed for use in spray applicators after mixing with water. The formula produces a water-resistant membrane, for use on exterior gypsum, concrete, cement plaster or masonry. Backstop DMS is designed for application on surfaces 40 degrees Fahrenheit or above, and surfaces cannot contain oil, grease, efflorescence or curing compounds. Users can mix Backstop DMS in pails, sprayers with mixing cylinders or mortar mixers. One 40-pound bag of Backstop DMS can produce approximately 5 gallons when pail mixing. The formula can remain usable for up to three hours, depending on weather conditions. Backstop DMS comes in powder form, and contact with eyes or skin can cause irritation. If ingested, the product can cause irritation to the central nervous system, stomach, throat or mouth. Inhaling Backstop DMS can cause weakness, blurred vision, chest pain or lung inflammation.

Ameristone

Ameristone produces an acrylic-based finish, with natural quartz aggregates of various colors and sizes. Users can apply Ameristone to interior or exterior surfaces treated with Dryvit finishing or exterior insulation products, or on stucco, masonry or concrete. Ameristone can dry in approximately 48 hours when applied in 70-degree weather with a relative humidity of 55 percent, but drying times vary in different conditions. Ameristone will not adhere to materials containing grease, oil, efflorescence, curing compounds or loose paint. Dryvit recommends using Ameristone on surfaces first treated with Color Prime. Ameristone comes in liquid, water-soluble form, with an opaque appearance and faint odor. Safety hazards associated with Ameristone can include eye irritation, skin irritation and headache, as well as abdominal discomfort, dizziness or burning if ingested.
