Apply Wood Filler

Wood filler
is made from real wood to match any species.

Wood filler has a variety of applications. It can be used to fill nail holes, cracks or splits in hardwood furniture or cabinets. It can also be used to smooth rough grain in hardwood floors or door panels. Wood filler has several different formulas, among them are nitrocellulose, water- or gypsum-based. Fillers are made from real wood to match most existing wood species commonly in use. The application for all three is the same.

Instructions

1. Scoop out enough wood filler to cover the end of the putty knife.

2. Press the filler onto the surface of the wood. Pull the knife along the length of the crack or hole with enough force to bend the knife slightly, forcing the filler into any cracks, splits, defects, rough grain or nail holes until the filler is smeared flat. Repeat if necessary to thoroughly fill the surface flaw. Let the filler dry for 30 minutes.

3. Scrub over the dry filler with the grain of the wood using 100-grit sandpaper on a sanding block to smooth out irregularities.

4. Scrub over the sanded area with 180-grit sandpaper on a sanding block until completely smooth.
