Chapel School Bulletin Board Ideas

Transform an ordinary cork board into a meaningful message.

A church bulletin board can be an attractive and effective way to capture the attention of children attending church school. Well-designed bulletin boards communicate important information such as upcoming kids' events, church-year seasons, Bible memory verses and student work. By creating colorful and engaging displays, church school leaders can use ordinary cork boards to reach children and their parents with memorable information.

Children's Work

Kids love to see their work displayed in the hallways of church. By highlighting the importance of their classwork, teachers can use bulletin boards to encourage children to participate. Make a border of blue ribbons around the frame of the board and cut out letters to create the title "Giving God Our Best." Staple worksheets, crafts or drawings with each child's name displayed clearly.

Church Seasons

Teach the liturgical seasons by creating a series of bulletin boards showing Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. Cover the bulletin board in the proper liturgical color to connect the children's church with the paraments in the sanctuary. For example, create a Pentecost board featuring a large white dove on a red background. Make flames from orange construction paper that "follow" the dove. Write verses from Acts 2 on the flames.

Memory Scriptures

Reinforce monthly memory verses by creating scripture bulletin boards. For example, teach the verse, "Wash me and I will be whiter than snow" with a board featuring a white construction paper snow boarder across the bottom, a snow man in the middle, and silver and white beads and foil snowflakes descending from the top frame. Write the scripture across the snow in blue ink.

Church Events for Kids

Design bulletin boards that advertise upcoming church events geared toward children. Children's Choir, Vacation Bible School, after-school programs, movie nights, and Scout troop news can be promoted through colorful bulletin boards. Include information about times, dates, location, sign-up opportunities and contact information.
