Alabaster can be cleaned using items found in your home.
Alabaster is a whitish, almost transparent variety of gypsum. It is commonly used to create sculptures and ornaments. Alabaster is prone to dust and grime like most other things exposed to air. If you have an alabaster plate displayed in your house that has been neglected of cleaning, it may already have dust, dirt or other small debris on the surface. It is possible to clean your alabaster plate using a few items you may already have in your kitchen.
Instructions
1. Hold the alabaster plate and carefully wipe off any dust, dirt and small debris using a clean cotton cloth. You can also use a feather duster on your alabaster plate as well.
2. Inspect your alabaster plate under good lighting and look for stains.
3. Mix a solution of 3 oz. cream of tartar and 1 oz. hydrogen peroxide in a small bowl.
4. Dip a cotton cloth or sponge into the solution, ring out and rub the stained areas gently.
5. Dip half of an unused cotton cloth or sponge in a bowl of clean water. Wipe the areas with the cloth to remove the solution. Use the dry side of the cloth to wipe off any moisture. Set your alabaster plate aside to dry at room temperature before storing or displaying.
