When driving off-road you never know what you are going to encounter. Being prepared for any situation will alleviate the need for an expensive backwoods rescue. A Hi-Lift jack is a multi-purpose tool that can be used for more than just lifting a vehicle to change a tire. The long ravel of a Hi-Lift jack allows it to be used to lift vehicles over objects, out of mud and deep water, and provide additional capability when winching your vehicle free of an obstruction.
Instructions
Raising and Lowering Vehicles
1. Place wheel chocks in front of and behind the tire not being lifting by the Hi-Lift jack.
2. Set the Hi-Lift jack base on a firm surface with the large runner facing toward the vehicle's bumper. Push the reversing latch up to place the jack in lift mode.
3. Stand behind the jack, facing the vehicle. Pull the jack handle toward you to release it from the jack bar. Push the handle toward the ground until your hear the jack "click." Pull the handle to its highest position and repeat until you have the vehicle lifted off the ground. Push the handle firmly toward the jack bar until the clip snaps in place. Place blocking under the vehicle frame to support while raised.
4. Remove the blocking from under the vehicle.
5. Move the reversing lever to the down position. Pull the handle toward you to free it from the jack bar.
6. Push down on the jack handle. Slowly allow the handle to move up. Push down on the handle when you hear a "click." Repeat the up and down movement until the vehicle's wheels are on the ground.

10. Connect another strap connected to an object to the large runner of the Hi-Lift jack.
11. Set the reversing lever to the upright position. Pull the handle away from the jack bar. Pump the handle back and forth to winch the move the object toward you.
12. Move the reversing lever to the down position. Pump the handle to release pressure from the slings attached to the jack.
