At times, finding a secure anchoring point for outdoor structures can be difficult if no trees or solidly built structures are in the area. Earth anchor screws provide a means to secure fences, sheds and other outdoor structures in place. Improperly installing earth anchor screws in the ground will cause the anchors to wobble. As the anchor wobbles, it will lose contact with the ground and become loose. This diminishes its ability to hold a structure in place.
Instructions
1. Mark the area for the anchor installation by making an "X" on the ground with powdered chalk.
2. Set the point of an earth anchor screw on the center of the marked "X."
3. Slide one end of a small diameter iron pipe into the eyelet located at the top of the earth anchor screw. Apply downward pressure on the anchor screw to force it slightly into the ground. Tilt the anchor to set it on a 45-degree angle to the ground.
4. Turn the inserted iron pipe clockwise -- while maintaining downward pressure -- to thread the anchor into the ground.
5. Stop turning the anchor when the eyelet sits close to the ground or tight to a gusset--if supplied. Pull the pipe toward you after it is in position to test the anchor's grip. Turn the pipe counterclockwise to remove the anchor from the ground if the anchor moves when pulled. Move the anchor to a solid point. Remove the iron pipe from the eyelet when the anchor sits firmly in the ground.
