Make Use Of A Drywall Lift Jack

Use a Drywall Lift Jack

Drywall (gypsum board) is one of the most commonly used materials for cladding interior walls in construction today. It is a generally versatile material that can usually be installed quickly and offers a degree of fire protection. It is available only in large sheets that can be difficult for one person to lift and work with in overhead situations. The drywall lift jack is a tool that aides in overhead drywall application, and enables one person to safely and easily complete the job.

Instructions

1. Place the drywall lift jack under the first area of the ceiling to be worked on and lock the wheels in place (if the jack has wheels and locks).

2. Load a sheet of drywall (with the back-side facing up) onto the jack; refer to jack operation manual for additional loading instructions.

3. Crank the jack so the drywall lifts to the ceiling, and stop a couple inches short; refer to jack operation manual for additional lifting instructions.

4. Position the drywall precisely under its proposed location and crank the jack until the sheet of drywall is against the ceiling joists.

5. Fasten the drywall to the ceiling joists and move to the next sheet.
