Sometimes small children like to show their artistic abilities by marking up the walls with markers and ink pens. These markings on the wall don't necessarily mean that the wall will need to be repainted, or that a professional cleaner will need to be called in to clean the walls. Ink-stained walls can be cleaned using inexpensive items you may already have around the house in the medicine cabinet or liquor cabinet.
Instructions
1. Wet the sponge with hot water. Prepare the stained surface by coating it in warm water.
2. Spray the stain with hairspray. If you don't want to use your expensive hairspray on the stain you can use a cheaper bottle of hairspray or simply substitute hairspray with a 2 tbsp. of rubbing alcohol or two shots of vodka.
3. Allow the vodka, hairspray, or rubbing alcohol to set in the stain for one to three minutes. You want the solution to loosen the ink stain without allowing the solution to dry; this can cause the stain to set further into the drywall.
4. Rinse the sponge with hot water to remove the excess alcohol content of the vodka, hairspray, or rubbing alcohol. Don't wring out the sponge after rinsing. The sponge should be hot and wet when you apply the sponge to the stain to wipe it away.
5. Wipe the stain clean with the hot sponge in an up and down motion. If the stain has been on the sheet rock for more than an hour, it may take more than one cleansing process to remove the stain completely.
